Above you see a yellow Rosa banksiae lutea and a pink rose called 'Kolorscape Flamingo'.  The banksiae was the first rose I saw bloom this spring at a Rosewood neighbors home.  Kolorscape Flamingo was the first rose I bought this year to add to my breeding program.

I only began collecting roses seriously in May of 2014 (the 16th to be specific). Since then I joined the American Rose Society, the Greater Columbia Rose Society, the Heritage Rose Foundation, the Rose Hybridizer's Association, and the South Carolina Rose Society.

I also have begun growing (or attempting to grow) more than 325 varieties of roses.  Of these I purchased approximately 160 and all others I started from cuttings. These came from neighbors, acquaintances, rose breeders, and a couple of nurseries, mainly Angel Gardens, Kremser's Plant Farm, and Roses Unlimited.

Rose breeder John Starnes, Jr. provided me with several plants and a lot of cuttings from older roses, in March, which I'm grateful for.

The purpose of this blog is to document my efforts as a rose breeder / grower, and will include lots of photos.
